Mrs. Elizabeth Helman
Elizabeth Helman, daughter of Samuel and
Welhelmina Landis, was born at Pleasant Hill, O., June 27, 1856 departed this
life February 12, 1930, aged 73 years, 7 months, 15 days.
On October -oth., 1879 she was united in holy
matrimony with Job Helman of Shelby County, Ohio. To them were born
eight children, four sons and four daughters.
Many years ago she felt the need of a Savior and
gave her heart to the Master and united with the church of the Brethren and
remained faithful to the end. During her recent illness she desired the
sacred rite of anointing which she enjoyed. Many times she expressed a
desire to pass to her rest and be with her companion. The world
with all its comfort and family tie of near and dear ones had lost its charm,
and she passed from us to claim her home above.
About thirty years of their married life was spent
on a farm near Oren, Shelby Co., the last eighteen years in the vicinity of
Pleasant Hill and Covington. She was tenderly devoted to her family and home.
She was a loving mother, always sacrificing and giving her strength for her
children. She will be missed. In the church, as long as health
permitted, she was regular at the hour of prayer, but most of all by her
children and grand children. Only last April her companion preceded her, also
two sons and one daughter have gone to the great beyond.
She leaves to mourn her departure, two sons,
Samuel Elmer of Piqua, John Lewis of Houston, three daughters, Mrs. Lydia
Stepenson, of Covington, Mrs. Ida Towles of Pleasant Hill, and Miss Daisy
Holman of Covington. Also twenty-five grand children and one great grand
child. One sister and four brothers and many other friends and
relatives.
