Troy Times - Veteran - 110th O. V. I.

November 17, 1864

McANALLY, SERGEANT MATTHIAS - At the United States Hospital in Jeffersonville, Indiana, on Wednesday morning, Nov. 2d, 1864, Sergeant Matthias McAnally, aged 45 years, 4 months, and 25 days. The deceased entered the service of his country the 3d of Oct. 1862, in the 110th O. V. I., at Camp Piqua, and was with the regiment in various places in West Virginia, until the 15th of June, 1863 at which time he was taken prisoner at Winchester, Va. and was taken to Libby prison and was there and on Belle Isle 40 days. He was then paroled and sent to Annapolis, Maryland during which time he was taken sick, after a short visit to his family, was sent to Main Street Hospital in Corington, Ky., at which place he remained an invalid until a few days previous to his death, when he was removed to Jeffersonville, Indiana. His remains were brought home and deposited in the Casstown Cemetery, Sunday, Nov. 6th inst. He died as he always lived, a kind husband, a devoted father, a patriot and an honest man, leaving a wife and four children to lament his untimely death.
