MEEKS, SEN. BASIL - Basil Meeks, Sen., was born in Washington County, Pennsylvania, on the 23d day of April 1776; was married to Iona Evans of the same County in the Fall of 1798, where they remained until the Spring of 1904, when they emigrated to Fairfield Co., Ohio. Lived there about two years, and then removed to Franklin County, near Columbus, and remained there some eight years; and then removed in the Fall of 1814 into Miami County where he has since lived until Oct. 2d, 1863, having parted this life at the age of 87 years, 5 months and 9 days. Father Meeks obtained a hope in Christ in the summer of 1827 and joined the Baptist Church, of which he continued an exemplary member till the Great Master called him to his reward in Heaven. M.
