HILL, WILLIAM - Drowned - On Tuesday afternoon a colored boy named William, and aged about 12 years, and son of Henderson Hill was drowned in a gravel pit or hole excavated over the river near the railroad bridge. He had gone in swimming alone and his clothes being found upon the ground led to the discovery of the accident. Some little excitement was occasioned by the discovery of a number of bruises on his body which led to the supposition that he had been foully dealt with. The coroner's inquest however shows that the bruises were occasioned by the raises and poles used to recover the body from the water. He was interred yesterday in the old graveyard.
