HAYWOOD, THOMAS - In this place on the 25th December, 1861, Mr. Thomas Haywood, in the 26th year of his age. For several years Mr. Haywood had been in poor health, and towards the close of his life, his sufferings were very great. Although he had been an invalid for a long time, and for the last two or three weeks of his life, had seemed to sink rapidly, yet no very serious apprehensions were felt by his friends as to any sudden change. The day before he died, however, a sudden and unexpected change took place, and he sunk very rapidly. It is a very great consolation to know that the deceased had been looking forward to the solemn event, and had fled for refuge to the finished work of Christ. His sufferings were very great, but his end was peace.
