October 9, 1833 

JOHNSTON, SAMUEL - Died, of Dyspepsis, at the residence of Mr. H. Murray, on Saturday evening the 5th inst., in the 54th years of his age, Mr. Samuel Johnston, late of Harrisburgh, Pennsylvania.  The deceased had been in a low state of health for several years; he emigrated to this country in hopes of improving his health by travelling and a change of climate.  He put up at Mr. Murrays on the 1st instant exhausted and unable to proceed to the place of his destination (Piqua) where he lingered but a few days.  He has left a widow and child, among strangers.  The deceased stood high in the estimation of his friends, and acquaintances.  He had been a respectable member of the Presbyterian Church for twenty five years.
