REED, RICHARD - On Sabbath morning last, of inflammation of the lungs, Richard Reed, in the 29th year of his age. He was sick eight days. His sufferings through this entire period were extreme, yet were borne with extraordinary patience. Richard was remarkable for his integrity, his decision of character. His amiable and social spirit--his generous and noble bearing, made warm friends of all who came within the circle of his acquaintance. His bereaved and sorely afflicted parents, brothers, and sisters have the kindest sympathies of the community in the untimely death of their most affectionate son; their kind and loving brother. The tearful eyes of the many young friends who thronged his dying room, bore testimony to the depth of their esteem and affection for their afflicted friend. O, how inexorable and relentless is death! Though in the prime of manhood; in the vigor of youth, with bright prospects for the future; bound to society by the strong cords of true friendship, and embosomed in the warm affections of his kindred, yet Death claims him, and he is borne away. While many hearts bleed on account of his departure, we trust that through the mercy of the blessed Savior he has passed to a brighter and happier sphere, where there is no more sorrow, nor sickness, nor death. "Be ye also ready, for in such an hour as ye think not, the Son of Man cometh."
