ORBISON, MRS. MARY ANN TELFORD - Died, April 16th, 1868, at the house of her son, Mr. Thomas J. Orbison near Troy, O., Mrs. Mary Ann Telford Orbison, wife of the late Henry Orbison, having nearly completed the 80th year of her age. Mother Orbison, as she has been more familiarly known for many years past, was born in Virginia, 1786. Her father moved to Kentucky, the year of her birth, from thence to Ohio in 1804, settling at first near Dayton, afterwards removing to the vicinity of Troy, being one of the very early pioneers of this county. In 1809 she was married at the age of 21, to the late Henry Orbison, with whom she lived 57 years, their Golden Wedding having been duly celebrated in 1859. It is about 18 months since the death of her husband. Except a half sister, she is the last of her father's family, and at the time of his death was the only one remaining of the original thirteen who were organized into the First Presbyterian Church of Troy, Sept. 13th, 1813. With her husband she was identified with its organizations and history for about fifty-five years, while both her own and her father's family have been prominent in the church. Her own father and brother and half brother and her husband, during their life time, were ruling Elders in the original church or in one or the other of the present organizations and one of her sons is at this time an Elder in the Franklin St. Presbyterian Church of this place. Mother Orbison has been a happy example of the power and grace of the gospel of Jesus Christ, and is now gathered to her fathers and her father's God in peace and buried in a good old age, having realized the truth and blessedness of the covenants of God in a long life, rich in spiritual and temporal mercies.
