LOCK, MRS. MARGARET - On Thursday, the 14th inst., at the residence of Benjamin Lock, in this place, Mrs. Margaret Lock, in the eighty-sixth year of her age. The deceased emigrated from New Jersey with her husband and family in 1814, and for three years lived near Dayton. In 1817 they removed to this county and settled on a farm near Troy. After the death of her husband Mrs. Lock moved into town, where she remained until her death. She was a consistent, useful, and highly esteemed member of the Methodist Episcopal Church for fifty-six years. She assisted in the organization of the first Sabbath School of that denomination, and was long an active laborer in it. She had lived in Troy and its vicinity for forty-one years--as long, probably, as any one now living here. Her last illness was brief; and, though her bodily strength was almost entirely exhausted by age and suffering, her mind was calm, unclouded and peaceful to the last moment. She died in the full, enjoyment of the "consolations of the Gospel." M.
