MEEKS, DIANA - The subject of this brief obituary notice, Diana Meeks, wife of Basil Meeks, late of Miami County, came with her husband and little family, from Pennsylvania to Fairfield County, Ohio, in the spring of 1804. After several removes, the family located permanently in Miami County, in the fall of 1814, where she has since lived until March 10th, 1864 having parted this life in the 86th year of her age. Mother Meeks having obtained a good hope in the blessed Savior, in the summer of 1817, joined the Baptist Church, of which she continued a faithful and devoted member, until the Great Head of the Church said--"it is enough--come up higher!" Mother Meeks leaves six children, twenty-two grandchildren, and thirteen great grandchildren to mourn her loss. But what is their loss, is her great gain; for she has now entered upon the blessed enjoyment of that rest which remains for the people of God. Oh, may her children, all her children, so imitate her pious Christian example; that in the end, they may realize a like inheritance. M.
