December 7, 1911

MARTIN, THOMPSON L. - Thompson L. Martin was born near Lebanon, Warren county, Ohio, Nov. 25, 1827, and died Nov. 24, 1911.  He was the son of Vinson and Mary Stiles Martin.  They were natives of Pennsylvania and New Jersey and moved to Ohio in an early day.  He helped in the construction of the Miami canal.  Thompson Martin was united in marriage to Hannah Davis, April 10, 1851, and to this union were born three sons and one daughter.  His wife died April 3, 1874, leaving him to battle life's journey alone.  He leaves one brother, three sons, one daughter and six grandchildren to mourn his loss.  Mr. Martin was a member of the Conservative Brethren church over 18 years and was a great lover and believer in his church.  Mr. Martin lived to a ripe old age and in his life he was noted for his stern qualities for fight and justice.  The latter part of his life was spent at his daughter's, Mary Brown, who took the greatest pains in looking after his comfort and welfare.  He was blessed with the best of health until the last few days of his life, when sickness and pain came, he gave up and was ready to go as he felt that his time had come.
