Miami Union

February 10, 1910

HUNT, THOMAS - Laura--Thomas Hunt, son of Elijah and Susana Hunt, was born July 25, 1831, and died Feb. 4, 1910.  His parents emigrated from Virginia and settled in western Miami county where Thomas was born and where all of his life was spent with the exception of about ten years, when he lived in the neighboring county of Darke.  In April 1852, he was united in marriage to Hester Walker, who lives to mourn the loss of a true and sincere husband.  To this union were given three boys, the youngest of whom died in infancy.  The deceased united with the Laura Christian church in 1866 under the preaching of Abraham Suethen, one of the founders of the Miami Christian conference.  He was an active church worker, was trustee for many years and attended meeting regularly until a few months before his death, although for the past few years he was almost blind.  His entire life was one of pure, honest Christianity.  He led a strenuous farm life until a few years ago.  He then removed to Laura where he was residing at the time of his death.  There he was a useful citizen and known by all as "Uncle Tommy."  He leaves a wife, two sons, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, a brother, a half-brother and a half-sister besides a host of loving friends.--Kyle Hunt.
