LEAF, SUSIE I. - Died in Troy, Wednesday morning, Aug. 30th, Susie I. wife of James Leaf.  Patiently enduring her sufferings, uttering words of cheer to her sorrowing friends, she calmly fell asleep in Jesus. "Let me sleep--I'll awake in the morning," she said to her husband; perhaps in that hour she heard her risen Lord whispering, "Because I live ye shall live also;" and with the dawning of the new day on earth, she began her first day in Heaven.  "Because I live ye shall live also," Oh! golden words--infinitely precious to sorrowing hearts, when called to part in death from loved ones.  And dear sister, as we hover around thy still form, close thine eyes, smooth thy hair, and kiss thy cold lips, with the sad assurance that it is for the last time; as we shrink from the shroud, the grave and the loneliness of our desolate home, we remember that He who uttered those words was once himself the subject of those offices of bereaved affliction. He wore the shroud, He lay in the tomb, and we can imagine how carefully each linen fold was laid, how tenderly the bruised  body was borne away by his weeping friends.  And dear patient heart, our sorrow for thee is turned to hopeful expectation, and with Mary we stoop and look into the vacant tomb and hear our Savior say, "I ascend to my Father and your Father, and to my God and your God."
