OAKES, SAMUEL - About 5 o'clock Saturday morning Samuel Oakes, an aged resident of Pleasant Hill died at his late home on South Main street in that village.  The deceased had been ill for several months, but was able to go to his farm Thursday and was very ill Friday with heart trouble, and was about 75 years of age.  He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Rebecca Oakes, two daughters, Mrs. Lee Stauffer and Mrs. Ella Wampler and one son, Frank Oakes, all residing in Pleasant Hill.  The funeral obsequies were held Monday afternoon in the Brethren church in Pleasant Hill and burial was made in the cemetery at that place.
