COON, ROBERT H. - Pleasant
Hill--The funeral of Robert H. Coon was held at the Brethren church in Pleasant
Hill, Wednesday, May 31, at 10 o'clock. He was laid to rest in the
Pleasant Hill cemetery by the side of his loved and devoted parents, Mr. and
Mrs. John Coon. Mr. Coon was 30 years of age and leaves four sisters, all
of whom are younger than he, to mourn his departure. He was the delight of
his sisters and the joy of their home. At the age of 18 he began traveling
and did not cease until he had crossed the four boundaries of the U. S. and had
been in 37 states of the Union. He has been farming the home place since
the death of his mother. On the forenoon of May 28 five of his cousins
called and asked him to go swimming. Robert went with them to the river,
but as he had never learned to swim he stayed in water where he could wade but
by having weak heart as soon as the water reached his heart the Death Angel
claimed him and he fell without even a struggle. His cousin pushed him
above the water but was unable to hold him and he sank again and drifted about
75 feet down stream. After about four hours search his body was found and
carried to his home. He was a member of the Jr. O. U. A. M. of Pleasant
Hill, and at the age of 18 he united with the M. E. church of that town.
Card of Thanks - We cannot express our appreciation and gratitude for the assistance rendered by the Jr. O. U. A. M. and also by the friends and relatives during our bereavement. MARY, JENNIE, GOLDIE AND LIDA COON.
