ROBERT J. CAROTHERS -  Robert J. Carothers, 80, of Piqua, died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2000 at Koester Pavilion, Troy.  He was born in Sidney on Sept. 11, 1919 to the late Jean and Edna Gartley Carothers.  He married Lois J. Black Cron on Sept. 3, 1960 in Sidney and she survives. Other survivors include a stepdaughter, Mrs. Lois Ann Slocumb of Dublin, two step-grandchildren, and five step-great-grandchildren.  Mr. Carothers was preceded in death by one brother and a sister.  Mr. Carothers was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, worked at the Piqua Daily Call for many years and at the time of his retirement was the advertising manager.  He was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church.  Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home, Piqua, with the Dr. Daniel Clow officiating.  Burial will follow in the Graceland Cemetery, Sidney, where full military services will be provided by the V. F. W. Post #No. 4874. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
