Miami Union
March 2, 1911
YASTE, RACHEL AMANDA - Rachel
Amanda Yaste, daughter of James and Margaret Weatherhead, was born in Lostcreek
township, Miami county, O., June 6, 1832. She was one of a family of eight
children, four sons and four daughters, only one of whom, her brother, John
Weatherhead, at the advanced age of 87 years, survives her. On the 22nd of
March 1855, she was married to George E. Yaste and to this union were born three
children, two daughters and one son. The son, Samuel F., died 20 years
ago. The daughters, Mrs. Eva Deweese and Mrs. Frances Kincade, mourn the
loss of a kind, faithful and loving mother. She also leaves seven
grandchildren. In 1893 Mrs. Yaste was bereft of her companion. For a
short time she remained in the old home, but for the last sixteen years she has
resided with her daughter, Mrs. Deweese. Mrs. Yaste loved her home and
enjoyed a part of its busy activities. Advancing years had not brought to
her, as it does to many, extreme feebleness, but to the very last she retained
her interest in all that concerned her loved ones. In early life she was
converted and joined the Methodist Episcopal church at Fletcher. Later she
became one of the charter members of Beech Bethel society, of which church she
was a loyal member to the day of her death. Suddenly, almost without
warning the messenger came to call her home and on the morning of Feb. 24, 1911,
having reach the age of 78 years, 8 months, 18 days, she loosed her hold on
earth to enter into the joys of eternity.
