VANCE, PHILIP - Philip Vance, one of Troy's best known and highly esteemed citizens, died Saturday morning at his home on South Plum street after a short illness due to paralysis and heart trouble.  Mr. Vance was born Sept. 20, 1836, in York, Pa., and came to Troy many years ago.  By trade he was a contractor and built many residences and other buildings in this section and by his fair dealing and honesty gained the confidence of all with whom he was associated.  His wife preceded him in death seven months.  He leaves two daughters, Mrs. Adolf Cress and Mrs. William Honeyman and two sisters, Mrs. Samuel Williams and Miss Sarah Vance.  The funeral services were held from the residence at 3 o'clock Monday afternoon and were conducted by the Rev. D. S. Ferguson.  Interment was made at Riverside.
