VANCE, MRS. PHILLIP - The funeral of Mrs. Phillip Vance, one of Troy's most respected and loved women, was held last Thursday afternoon from the residence on South Plum street.  Rev. Beery, pastor of the First Methodist church of which she had been an active member, officiated.  Mrs. Vance, whose maiden name was Jennie Funk, was born in Troy Jan. 28, 1853, and had lived here all her life.  In 1881 she was united in marriage with Phillip Vance, who with one sister survives her.  She had a kindly, helpful disposition and will be missed by many.  She had been ill for many months but endured her sufferings bravely.  Interment was made in Riverside cemetery.
