VANCE, MRS. PHILLIP - The
funeral of Mrs. Phillip Vance, one of Troy's most respected and loved women, was
held last Thursday afternoon from the residence on South Plum street. Rev.
Beery, pastor of the First Methodist church of which she had been an active
member, officiated. Mrs. Vance, whose maiden name was Jennie Funk, was
born in Troy Jan. 28, 1853, and had lived here all her life. In 1881 she
was united in marriage with Phillip Vance, who with one sister survives her.
She had a kindly, helpful disposition and will be missed by many. She had
been ill for many months but endured her sufferings bravely. Interment was
made in Riverside cemetery.
