McALPIN, MRS. LAURA B. - Mrs.
Laura B. McAlpin, wife of James McAlpin, died at her home at Raper Chapel
Saturday evening about 11 o'clock, aged 61 years. She had been in ill
health since last February. A stroke of apoplexy sustained about three
weeks ago was the immediate cause of her death. She was a daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. William Jones and was born August 9, 1849, in Lostcreek township, Miami
county. Thirty-three years ago last February she was married to James
McAlpin and to this union was born two children, both of whom survive, Harley
and Mrs. Earl Russell, both of Troy. She was an active member of Raper M.
E. church. She was a loving and devoted mother and wife. Her death
will be a cause of mourning among a large circle of friends. The funeral
was held from the Raper Chapel M. E. church on Tuesday afternoon at 1:30
o'clock. Rev. D. S. Ferguson, pastor, officiated. The body was
interred in Raper Chapel cemetery.
