McPHERSON, MRS. ELIZABETH - A Mechanicsburg, Pa., paper has an account of the death of Mrs. Elizabeth McPherson at Republican City, Neb., June 11, 1902.  She was the widow of the late Dr. John McPherson, formerly a resident of Troy.  Mrs. McPherson was a daughter of General James and Rachel Fergus, and a sister of Shannon Fergus of near West Charleston, Miami county, of which neighborhood she was a native.  A daughter, now deceased, became the wife of W. D. Blackburn now a resident of Mechanicsburg, Pa.  A daughter of Mr. Blackburn, Margaret E. was about to leave for an extended visit with her grandmother, and in Colorado, when the news came of Mrs. McPherson's death.  The deceased was 78 years old and will be well remembered by many old residents of this city and county.  Her husband, the Hon. John McPherson, who died a year ago, was a prominent physician and citizen here, and afterwards of Nebraska, as a State Senator, member of Constitutional conventions, a trustee of State institutions and a man of public spirit and enterprise.  He was a descendant of Captain John McPherson, who served with distinction on land and sea in the War of the Revolution, also being wounded in the service under John Paul Jones and afterwards was for many years a judge of Northumberland county, Pennsylvania.
