CAREY, MRS. CELIA - Pleasant
Hill--Mrs. Celia Carey died at Covington July 2, the cause of her death being
consumption. She was born in North Carolina, Feb. 22, 1841 and was the
daughter of W. and Mary Johnson. She was brought to Ohio when three years
old. In 1866 she was united in marriage with George S. Carey who preceded
her in death August 1, 1902. To this union were born two sons and two
daughters all of whom are living and were present at the funeral which was held
at Pleasant Hill on July 4th and was conducted by the Rev. O. P. Furnas,
assisted by Rev. Spybey. Interment was made at Pleasant Hill cemetery.
Mrs. Carey had been in ill health for some time and was confined to her bed for
only about four weeks. She spoke of her passing away calmly saying she
would like to stay on her children's account but was willing and prepared to go.
In early life she became a member of the Christian church and was an active
member of the Circle Hill church in this township. She was a good and
exemplary woman and her departure is regretted by all who knew her.
