HOUSTON, MR. DAVID - On Monday
evening at his residence in Staunton township, near Troy, of lung fever, Mr.
David Houston, in the 65th year of his age. The deceased came into this
county when he was but six years of age, with his father, Judge Houston, who
settled on a farm nine miles northwest of Piqua. On the formation of
Shelby county, some years afterward, the Houston farm was included in that
county, where the family resided until all were grown up. After the death
of their father the family scattered, David and some of his brothers going to
Arkansas. He remained there some six years, but becoming dissatisfied he
returned to this county and settled in Bethel township, were he remained until
some two months since, when he removed to this immediate vicinity. Mr. H.
was sick but a few days when he passed away, full of hope for the future.
He was buried on Tuesday near his late residence in Bethel township--the funeral
being attended by a large concourse of his new neighbors in this vicinity. Troy Times January 31, 1867 HOUSTON, DAVID - Died, at his residence near Troy, Jan. 21,
1867, Mr. David Houston, in the 55th year of his age.
