COOPER, MR. - An old man named Cooper, residing on the side of the railroad just below town, attempted to cross the road in front of the 10 o'clock passenger train on Tuesday when he was struck by the engine and so injured as to cause his death in a few minutes.  Mr. C. was 76 years old and considerably deaf and probably did not hear the train; but how he could have failed to see it, as the road is straight at that point, we cannot imagine, as it must have been within a few feet of him when he stepped upon the track.
