MARTIN, MISS LENA - Cove Springs--This community is greatly saddened by the death Tuesday night of Miss Lena Martin, the only child of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Martin.  She was a member of the junior class of the Troy high school and was in attendance Monday although suffering from a severe cold.  Tuesday night she was seized with a severe fit of coughing which resulted in a hemorrhage of the lungs and death soon followed.  She was 16 years of age, of a bright, winsome, sunshiny disposition and was popular at school and among her associates who are deeply saddened and can although in a comparatively small measure; sympathize with her parents to whom the heart of the entire community goes out.  She was active in the Sunday school and will be greatly missed there.  Arrangements have not yet been made for the funeral.

MARTIN, LENA - The funeral of Lena Martin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles D. Martin, was held Saturday morning at 10 o'clock, a large crowd of sorrowing friends, relatives and acquaintances being present to pay a last tribute of respect to one loved by all who knew her.  Nearly all the Troy high school teachers and a great number of the pupils were in attendance, a quartet from the high school singing a number of hymns.  Rev. Bennett had charge of the service and Supt. Cookson read the obituary.  Interment was made at Casstown.  Many and beautiful were the fragrant flowers among them being offerings from the Junior class and the young girl's Sunday school class.  The following was read by Supt. Cookson at the funeral and worthily expresses the feeling with which she was regarded: Sad was the intelligence flashed over this community and into Troy last Tuesday night.  The message said that a loved one had fallen to sleep in time to awake in eternity.  While we were all unconscious of such a condition the soul of Lena Martin escaped from the prison house and went back to the God who gave it.  The duty of Life's Harvester is to gather the ripened grain.  As he swings his "scythe of time" it often catches in its sweep a beautiful flower in full bloom.  In the quiet of the evening without long and painful suffering a flower from this home, from this community, from yonder school folded its petals, drooped its head and sank peacefully to rest.  Lena Martin would have been sixteen years old on the 15th day of next June.  She was a member of the Junior class of the Troy high school and looked forward to the completion of her course of study next year.  It is a strange kind of providence that has taken this girl in the play time of life and yet there is a beautiful thought to those who loved her that and is free from the many perplexities of life through which she must needs have passed had existence been prolonged.  Lena Martin to those who knew her best was a modest, unassuming, thoughtful girl; an ambitious, careful, trustworthy student, a kind, helpful and affectionate daughter; a faithful, sacrificing and courteous companion; to all a lovable, teachable young woman.  She was an only daughter.  Her friends were all who knew her.  Her life's history has been written  To her parents and friends it is a beautiful story of a successful existence.  While we all sorrow at her going away yet we believe she is "Safe in the Arms of Jesus" and has already seen Him face to face.
