MYERS, MATHIAS DELPHER - Bradford--The funeral services of M. D. Myers, pioneer merchant and worthy citizen of this village, were held Wednesday afternoon in the Presbyterian church and fitting tribute was paid to one whose influence had always been for civic righteousness.  The funeral was attended by many friends from a distance and was one of the largest ever held here.  After the talk by the pastor the services of the Masonic order were given being completed at the cemetery.  The dead man had been a Mason for nearly 48 years being a charter member of both Pleasant Hill and Bradford lodges.  Mathias Delpher Myers, son of George Michael and Ironica Delpher Myers, was born July 18, 1838, in Lancaster county, Pennsylvania, and died October 8, 1911, in Bradford, Ohio, aged 73 years, 2 months, and 19 days.  The deceased came to Ohio in 1858, and settled at Pleasant Hill.  He moved to Bradford, August 15, 1878, where he had lived for the last 41 years before his death.  He was married May 17, 1860, to Hannah Louisa Gingrich, who passed away February 6, 1908.  To them were born seven children, two of whom, Mrs. Albert Klinger and Nora Myers, preceded their parents in death.  May 16, 1909, he married Melvina Medford of Covington.  He leaves to mourn his loss a wife, two brothers: Michael Myers and Henry Myers, both of Pleasant Hill; two daughters, Mrs. Ella Miller of Dayton, Mrs. Matilda Schaffer of Olney, Ill., and three sons, Grant Myers of Story City, Iowa, Geo. F. Myers of Bradford, and Harry H. of Dayton.  There are also 33 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.  He became a charter member of the Bradford C. P. church in 1876 and was an elder in that church for 33 years.  He was an active business man and was not only the oldest business man in Bradford but is said to have been the oldest retail show dealer in Ohio.
