Miami Union

HARLACHER, MARIA - Pleasant Hill--Maria Harlacher was born near Lebanon, Lebanon county, Pa., Oct. 5, 1830.  She lived in Pennsylvania until she was eighteen years old.  In April 1851, she was married to John Long.  A few days after their marriage she and her husband in company with two other families moved near Troy, Miami county, Ohio, to make their future home.  To this union were born five children, four sons and one daughter.  The daughter, Clara, and the two sons, John and Henry are deceased.  The two sons remaining are Cyrus and Noah Long both living at West Milton.  April 30, 1863, she was married to Samuel Harlacher.  To them were born three children, two daughters and one son.  The daughter Amanda and son David have preceded her.  She became a member of the Brethren in Christ church in 1855 and has always lived a faithful and consistent member of the church and its teaching.  Mother Harlacher departed this life March 13, 1912, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Wm. Alspaugh, aged 81 years, five months and eight days.  She leaves two sons, one daughter, ten grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, one brother, Geo. Laudenslayer; one sister, Susan Herbst, and a host of friends to mourn her departure.  Funeral services were conducted at the Brethren church by Rev. J. N. Hoover.  Interment made at Sugar Grove.
