Leonard J. Cron  

Leonard Jackson Cron, 77, of Rantoul, Ill., died at 4:45 a.m. today in the Rantoul hospital.  He had been in failing health for the past 10 months.  Death was due to a cerebral hemorrage. A native of Piqua, he was born November 23, 1877 to A. J. and Amelia Noland Cron.  His wife, Minnie Fry Cron, died in 1930.   Mr. Cron had lived in Piqua until 6 years ago when he went to make his home with his grandson, Capt. Rodney L. Cron, USAF.  He was a retired freight yard conductor for the Baltimore and Ohio railroad and a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen.  Survivors besides the grandson are four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Roy W. of Plain City and Eugene, Three sisters, Mrs. John Loretz (Mabel), Mrs. Clinton McFarland (Grace) all of Columbus and Mrs. G. M. Bertling (Alice) of Piqua.  His son, Rodney, died in 1941.  Also surviving are four great-grandchildren, Melodie, Rodney, Patrick and Michael Cron, all of Rantoul, Ill.  Three brothers, James, Frank, and Robert, and a sister, Ethel, preceded him in death. Rev. L. J. Rhodeback will conduct services at 2 p.m. Thursday in the J. C. Cron and Sons funeral home.  Burial will be in the Forest Hill cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday afternoon and evening and Thursday until time for services.  Capt. Rodney Cron will accompany the body to Piqua tonight.
