WIDNEY, JOHN W. - John W. Widney, 70 a prominent farmer of Springcreek township, died Wednesday afternoon after an extended illness of stomach and kidney trouble.  The deceased was a soldier in the Civil War, serving in the 147th O. V. I. in the defense of Washington.  He had been prominent in Republican politics and had served as county commissioner, justice of the peace, member of the school board and other offices.  He is survived by his widow and two daughters.  The funeral will be held Friday afternoon.
