McCANDLISS, JAMES - Submitting to a surgical operation on Wednesday for strangulation of the bowels, James McCandliss, 62, a prominent farmer residing near Casstown, died at 2 o'clock Friday morning.  He was born near Eldean.  Thirty-five years ago he married Priscilla Webb, who survives him.  He also leaves three sisters and four brothers, Mrs. Nannie Rosser, of Troy; Mrs. George Wolf, of Dayton; Mrs. Al Cairnes, of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; John McCandliss, of Casstown; Charles McCandliss, of Detroit; Isaac McCandliss, of Dunnsmurr, Cal., and Crozler McCandliss, of Redding, Cal.  He was a member of the Baptist church and the Odd Fellows.  The funeral was held at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the Casstown M. E. church, the I. O. O. F. lodge attending and giving its ritualistic service at the grave.  Rev. D. S. Ferguson, assisted by Rev. Bruce Young, conducted the services and a male quartet, composed of John Downey, Dr. Kiser, Rev. Bruce Young and Walter Kingham, sang.
