ROHRER, JACOB - Tippecanoe City--In the death of Jacob Rohrer, which occurred at his home Wednesday afternoon, Tippecanoe City lost one of her oldest and most highly esteemed residents.  Mr. Rohrer was born in Chester county, Pennsylvania, October 15, 1815, and came to Ohio in 1835 locating in Montgomery county.  From there he came to Miami county in 1842 taking possession of his farm west of town.  Later he removed to this place.  He was prominently connected with important business interests of this place and in the county.  In 1857 Mr. Rohrer was elected county commissioner serving two terms.  He was director of the First National Bank of Troy nearly half a century and for a number of years was its vice president.  Mr. Rohrer was made a director of the Tipp National bank at its organization in 1883, and in 1891 was made the president, serving until 1908 when he retired from active business on account of failing health.  He was president of Ford & Company's wheel works and The Tipp Furniture company.  For many years he was president of the board of education.  He leaves one son, John H. Rohrer, two daughters, Mrs. T. C. Leonard and Mrs. A. R. Garver, besides a number of grandchildren.  He was a member of the Lutheran church and served for years as church official.  The funeral is to be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the residence.
