RAIL, JACOB - New Carlisle--Jacob Rail, a veteran of the Civil war, died here last Thursday of the infirmities of old age. He was one of this town's pioneer citizens, being 81 years of age. He enlisted in the 16th Ohio battery when it was formed, went through four years of service and returned with that company at the close of the war. Since then he has resided here working at his trade of painting and paper hanging. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Thomas Hatten. The funeral was held from the home Saturday afternoon and was conducted by the Rev. J. W. Patton. Interment at New Carlisle cemetery.
