FAIR, JACOB H. - Pleasant Hill--Jacob H. Fair, son of Peter and Sarah Fair, was born the sixteenth of October 1846.  He died June 15, 1911, aged seventy years and eight months.  He resided in Tippecanoe City until about nineteen years of age when he enlisted in the army and served until its close.  He was a member of the Forty-fourth O. V. I, which afterward became the Eighth Ohio Cavalry.  He was a member of Company E.  On November 18, 1866, he was united in marriage to Phoebe Macy, who still survives him.  To this union were born four children, three sons and one daughter, all of whom are living, and thirteen grandchildren, two of whom have passed to the great silence.  He united with the Sugar Grove church at Frederick at the age of forty-five, to which he remained a faithful member to his death.  The deceased resided near Laura, and the funeral services were conducted at the Christian church at Pleasant Hill by Rev. O. P. Furnas, assisted by Rev. Alva M. Kerr.  Interment at Pleasant Hill.
