Dr. Mackey, was a native of Virginia. He was born in
Shepherdstown, Berkley county, June 12, 1799; studied medicine in Baltimore, was
married February 19, 1830 to Caroline Donaldson who still survives. They
came to the west in 1832, first settling in Kentucky, and then in Troy in 1846,
where they have passed the most of their time since with the exception, of a few
years spent in St. Louis. He was the father of a numerous family, most of
which passed away in early years, but some of them yet remain to solace the
mother in her declining years.
