MILES, HENRY L. - Pleasant Hill--Henry L. Miles, who died in Newton township on June 10, and whom we have been asked to say something about as we were not at home at the time of his death, was the son of Jonathon and Mary Pearson Miles, and was born March 8, 1830.  He was first married to Rebecca Pemberton January 2, 1852, and to this union three children were born, Mark, who lives in Idaho, Susannah Jay, now of Defiance, Ohio and Margaret, who lived with her father until the time of his death.  After the death of his first wife he was again married on the 17th day of November 1858, to Elizabeth Coppock and to them two daughters were born.  Mrs. Cora Minnich of near Bradford and Mrs. Linnie Zimmerman of near this village and at whose home he died.  His second wife being dead he leaves to mourn his loss five children, 18 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.  Mr. Miles was an elder in the Friends church and a lifelong and honored member.  He was the youngest of a family of twelve children and the last to depart this life.  His funeral service occurred from the Friends church at Ludlow Falls and was conducted y the Rev. Enos Pemberton, assisted by Rev. A. M. Kerr.  He was laid in his last resting place in Union cemetery, June 12, by six of his grandsons.    Uncle Jake.
