LAYER, HARVEY - Harvey Layer, crossing watchman of the Pennsylvania at Wayne street, Piqua, was struck by a train last Thursday afternoon his skull being fractured and his right arm broken. He was taken to the hospital and died within an hour. He started to cross to warn some pedestrians and evidently underestimated the distance of the train and was caught. His home was in Bradford and he leaves a wife and four children. The funeral was held from the Catholic church in Bradford Saturday afternoon,--Interment at Forest Hill cemetery, Piqua.
