ROSE,
GEORGE B. -
By swallowing a draught of carbolic acid, George B. Rose, a well respected and
worthy farmer of Brown township and the father of ten children, took his own
life early Wednesday morning. He drank the poison about 7 o'clock in the
morning and the family learning of the rash act telephoned at once for the
family physician and he arrived in a few minutes but could do nothing for the
stricken man who died within an hour. No reason was given for the deed and
aside from conjectures which always spring up on such an occasion none has been
discovered. Mr. Rose was 66 years, three months and six days of age.
He was tenant on the W. B. Garbry farm one mile northeast of Fletcher. It
was on this same farm Mr. Garbry slipped and broke his leg about a year ago.
Mr. Rose had lived in this section for many years and by his industry and
integrity had gained the goodwill of all his neighbors. He is survived by
his wife and children all of whom are married except one son who is still in the
home. The funeral will be held from the residence some time Friday, the
exact hour having not yet been fixed. Burial will be made at Fletcher.
