HOWELL, EPHRAIM A. -
Fletcher--The funeral of Ephraim A. Howell took place at the Baptist church,
Fletcher, O., Saturday, March 9, at 3 p.m. Services were conducted by a
former pastor, Rev. J. W. Beck, and listened to by a very large and sympathetic
congregation. The deceased was born in Brown township, Miami county, O.,
Oct. 1, 1834, and died aged 77 years, five months and five days having spent his
entire life in this community. The respect in which he was held was
evidenced by the large number of neighbors and friends who filled the church to
overflowing. The music, so ably rendered by the choir, was carefully
selected and profoundly impressive. The floral designs, contributed by
loving hands and hearts, were beautiful and sufficient to cover the entire
casket. At the grave, where the last sad rites were observed, the scene
was very affecting, when scores of friends mingled their tears with those of the
bereaved and all that was mortal of perhaps the oldest native pioneer of Brown
township was buried to await the Resurrection Morn.
