JENNINGS, DR. SOLOMON - West
Milton--The last tribute of respect was paid to the late Dr. S. Jennings
Thursday afternoon by friends and relatives who were present at the funeral
rites of the deceased man, which were held from his late residence on Hays
street. The services were in charge of the local lodge of Masons, of which
he was a charter member, and had been a member of that order for the past
forty-one years. Dr. Solomon Jennings was one of the oldest physicians in
this county, having practiced medicine for fifty years. He retained his
office practice until the past few weeks, but had not been actively engaged for
some years owing to his advanced age. In former years he was one of the
best and foremost men of his profession in this
county, strenuously giving himself to the demands of a county
populace. The deceased man was highly educated and a brilliant
conversationalist. Dr. Jennings was born in Tuscarawas county, O., in
1833, and died November 1, 1910, at the age of 77 years. He leaves one
son, Dr. Gainor Jennings, one sister and two grandsons, Paxton and Ewing
Jennings. Rev. O. P. Furnas, Rev. Spybey and Rev. Enos Pemberton, esteemed
friends of the deceased man, were present at the services. Burial was made
in Riverside cemetery by the side of his wife, who had preceded him to the grave
five years ago.
