MILLHOUSE, DR. GEORGE R. -
Hetzler's Corner--Dr. George R. Millhouse was born on a farm in north
Springcreek township, January 10, 1840, and died very suddenly on the farm where
he was born October 22, 1910. He was a son of David and Louisa Millhouse.
Christmas day, 1879 he united in marriage with Mrs. Lavina Watson, who bore him
two daughters The youngest, Miss Edith, preceded her father in death 15
years ago. Dr. Millhouse served as a soldier in the 147th regiment of the
Civil war. He began practicing medicine in Kirkwood, O., moved from there
to Elide, O., where he continued the practice until he retired from business a
few years ago. Since then he has made his home in Lima. Last week he
came down to his _____ H. H. Marr's, who occupies a portion of the old home
farm, to stay an indefinite time. He retired Saturday night in his usual
health but in a short time called to the family who went to his room and found
him suffering with heart trouble and in less than 20 minutes he passed to the
great beyond He leaves to mourn his death one daughter, Mrs. R. D.
Hesselman, one granddaughter, Miss Mona Ruth Hesselman, two brothers,
Morris and Josiah Millhouse, one sister, Mrs. Mary Kiefer, and several nephews
and nieces. The deceased held his membership with the Kirkwood I. O. O. F.
lodge and with the D. A. R. posts in Lima. Short funeral services were
held in Mr. Marr's home by Rev. Young at 9 a.m. Tuesday, the Kirkwood lodge
attending in a body. The body was then taken to Lima where the G. A R.
post took charge of another short service. From there it was taken to
Allentown where another service was held in the Allentown church. Burial
in Allentown cemetery.
