REES, DAVID - Piqua--On Saturday morning at about half past eight o'clock David Rees, an old soldier, died from lung trouble brought on by an attack of the grip.  He was sixty-two years of age on the 15 of last March.  Mr. Rees had made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Jonas Smith of 636 Gordon street for some time, and died at her home.  On Saturday morning his daughter left his bedside after seeing to his comfort and went down stairs.  Shortly afterwards a neighbor called to inquire about Mr. Rees' health and on the two women going to the bedroom, they were shocked to find life had fled.  Mr. Rees is survived by his daughter, Mrs. Jonas Smith, and one son, C. E. Rees, of Cobalt, Ontario.  The funeral services were held at the house on Monday morning.  Rev. Ashman of Pleasant Hill, officiated.  The interment was made at Covington cemetery.  That village was Mr. Rees' home for many years before he came to Piqua.
