HECKMAN, DAVID - Union--David Heckman died March 25 near this place death being due to catarrhal pneumonia and his last illness being about ten days duration.  He was born near Phillipsburg, Mar. 15, 1830, and was a son of Mr. and Mrs. William Heckman.  Feb. 1, 1855, he was married to Hannah Brufnbaugh who with one son and five daughters survives him.  The funeral was held March 28 at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of the Brethren, east of Phillipsburg, of which he was a member, and was conducted by Rev. J. W. Fidler and Rev. D. M. Garver.  Interment in Bethel Cemetery.  Mr. Heckman moved to his late residence, in 1855 which was his home the remainder of his life.  He always took keen and active interest in the welfare of his community and of his church.  He remained young in spirit and active in affairs until the end of his life. His wise and fair counsel was always much sought in private and public affairs.  Mr. Heckman had an unusually large circle of friends in his community and in Dayton who will remember his kindly and cheerful nature, his generous and helpful disposition.
