COBAUGH, CORA MAE (ORAM) - Cora Mae (Oram) Cobaugh, 84, of New Carlisle, Ohio passed away
Friday June 30, 2006 at Grandview Hospital, Dayton, Ohio. She was born
April 27, 1922 in Wayne Township, Montgomery County, Ohio and graduated from
Wayne High School. She is the daughter of the late Clarence and Jesse
Belle (Roberts) Oram, in addition to her parents she was preceded in death by
her husband Herbert N. Cobaugh (June 22, 2006); a son, Dennis Neil Cobaugh
(2001); a son-in-law Ronald E. Fulk (1986); a beloved sister, Charlotte (Oram)
Lehman, three brothers, John Oram, Warren "Bud" Oram, Clarence LeRoy
Oram, killed in World War II. Mae started a new fad at the Bethel Local
Schools in Miami County when she became the 1st woman bus driver in 1961 and
drove for 31 years until her retirement in 1992. She drove the bus on the
hilliest roads of Miami County day after day in all kinds of weather
getting her 66 little passengers safely to school and home again always with an
ever-ready smile. She was the dean of women school bus drivers in the area
and received numerous safety awards. She drove through the worst snow
blizzard called "The Great White Out" with a bus load of band &
choir children even with her granddaughter Greta aboard for competition in
Bellefontaine, Ohio. She said she brought everyone safely home with the
guidance of the Savior above. She is survived by her loving children, a
daughter Nancy (Cobaugh) Fulk, a son Nelson G. Cobaugh, her precious
grandchildren, granddaughters, Greta Fulk and Amanda (Fulk) Grigsby and her
husband Matthew, and the joy of her life a new great grandson, Wyatt Matthew
Grigsby, a loving & caring sister-in-law, Hazel (Cobaugh) Strickland, a
wonderful brother-in-law, Gene Lehman, and many loving nieces, nephews &
cousins. Funeral services will be held at 3 PM Monday, July 3, 2006 at the
TROSTEL-CHAPMAN FUNERAL HOME, New Carlisle, Ohio Pastor Dave Potter
officiating. The family will receive family and friends two hours prior to
service. Interment at New Carlisle Cemetery. In lieu of flowers
contributions may be made to the Brandt Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 6870 U.S.
