RUE, CHARLES - Ludlow Falls--One of the saddest incidents that has happened here in many years occurred at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Chris Rue Sunday morning, when their oldest son, Charles was accidentally shot by his brother-in-law, Ray Westfall.  The boys had been talking of driving over to this village to attend Sunday school and the mother had asked them to catch some chickens for dinner before they left.  Not realizing any danger in the act, they took the target rifle and started for the barn.  They sighted some chickens feeding on the opposite side of the fence and in crawling through the trigger caught on the wires, discharging the gun, the bullet striking the Rue boy in the abdomen, piercing the vital organs.  Three physicians were hastily summoned and an operation performed to extract the bullet in hopes of saving his life, but to no avail, death relieving him of his terrible suffering at 1:10 Monday morning, August 8.  He was born near Heggerman, O., Dec, 20, 1894, and had only passed 15 1/2 summers, when death overtook him.  He was a boy who had many friends and was liked by all who knew him.  He will be greatly missed in the Sunday school and in the C. E. society of which he was an active member.  The family has the deepest sympathy of the entire community as was indicated by the large concourse of friends and relatives who were in attendance at the funeral Tuesday which was held from the Christian church where he always attended services.  It was conducted by Rev. Enos Pemberton.  The music was furnished by a full choir at the church and a quartet of mixed voices at the home where short services were held.  There were many beautiful floral tributes given as tokens of sympathy.  Interment was made in Old Union cemetery north of town.  He is survived by father, mother, three sisters, one brother, one half-sister and one half-brother.
