HATFIELD, CHARLES - Charles Hatfield, 40, hung himself from the rafters of a shed at his home, one-half mile east of Phillipsburg, at 4:30 Wednesday morning.  Despondency over the failure of his tobacco crop preyed on his mind.  Tieing a pair of harness lines around his neck, he attached the other end to a rafter and jumped off a box.  The body was not found until 8 o'clock.  Dr. J. C. Stoneroth was called and an examination disclosed the fact that the man's neck was broken in the fall.  Death was almost instantaneous.  Coroner Swisher was notified and will view the remains Thursday.
