LAYTON, CHARLES A. - Charles A. Layton died Tuesday morning at his home on North Walnut street, Troy, after a long illness of paralysis. He was aged 68, and is survived by his wife and one son. He was born in Allentown, Pa., and was a veteran of the Civil war, having served three years as a member of the 153rd Pennsylvania regiment. He was in the army of the Potomac and at the famous battle of Gettysburg. He was a member of Coleman post, G. A. R. and of the I. O. O. F. at Tiffin. The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon from his late home and the body will be taken to Tiffin for burial Thursday.
