GARVER, BENJAMIN C. - New Carlisle - Benjamin C. Garver, a pioneer of this place who had recently celebrated his 81st birthday, died Monday, January 24, at Shattue, Oklahoma, in the home of his daughter.  Death was due to pneumonia.  Mr. Garver was born in Virginia, Jan. 1, 1829.  For 54 years he had resided near New Carlisle and was loved by all.  He had been a member of the Methodist church for over 50 years, and was a great church worker and was a local preacher.  Until a short time before his death he had enjoyed excellent health.  The funeral was held Friday afternoon from the New Carlisle Methodist church and was conducted by the Rev. John G. Black.  Interment at New Carlisle cemetery.  He is survived by eight sons and one daughter, Mrs. Joseph McDowell and Arthur Garver, of Shattock, Okla.; George Graver, of Attica, Kan.; Edward Garver, Walker, Minn.; Frank Garver of Wheeling, W. Va.; W. B. AND James L. Garver, of Richmond, Ind.; John Garver of Springfield, Ohio; and A. R. Garver, of this place.
