HAWKER, ARAMINTA D. - Phoneton--Araminta
D. Hawker died at her home in Alpha Nov. 29th death being due to indigestion she
being ill only one or two days. She was born about 69 years ago at
Fletcher and was a daughter of John and Rebecca Swindler. Age the age of
18 she was married to George Freeman and to them five children were born, three
of whom are still living, Frank E., of this place, Arthur, now of Chicago, and
May of Dayton. Mr. Freeman died in 1882, Ten years later she married
J. T. Hawker of Alpha. Lura A. Freeman, the oldest daughter, died at
Asheville, N. C. where she went in quest of health. Harry W. died at
Phoneton. She is survived by Mr. Hawker, three sisters, a brother, two
sons and a daughter and 12 grandchildren. She was a faithful and
consistent member of the Bethel Reformed church here for many years. After
the death of her first husband and remarriage to Mr. Hawker of Alpha, she took
her membership to the Mt. Zion Reformed church where she remained a member until
death. She was a worker in the Sunday school having a class of young
women. She was president of the W. M. S. The funeral was held from
her late home Friday at 10:30 a.m. and was conducted by Rev. Cabey of the Mt.
Zion Reformed church. Interment at Mt. Zion cemetery.
