GROSS, WALTER JR. - Walter Gross Jr., 85, of Tipp City died Monday, Aug. 24, 2009 at Vitas Hospice Dayton after an extended illness. Born March 31, 1924 in Mad River Township to Walter C. and Katherine E. (Kemp) Gross. Walter was retired from Dayton Tire and Rubber Company and later from Saunders Seed Company, Tipp City. A U. S. Navy veteran of WWII. Preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 58 years, Dorothy J. Gross in 2005. He is survived by his son, James Gross of Tipp City, daughters Susan Gross, Troy, Laura Gross of Piqua, and Brenda Yahle, Anderson, Indiana and a very special granddaughter, Stephanie Yahle. Sister Louise (Paul) Cripe, Springfield; brothers Donald (Carol) Gross, Springfield, and Harold (Phyliss) Gross, Urbana. Walter was a great gardener, a good man and a loving father and grandfather. One of his recent great thrills was visiting Washington, DC with the Honor Flight. Funeral services 10:00 AM Friday, August 28, 2009 at FRINGS AND BAYLIFF FUNERAL HOME, 327 W. Main St., Tipp City, Ohio 45371. Visitation 6 to 8 PM on Thursday at Frings and Bayliff. Burial at Maple Hill Cemetery, Tipp City. Contributions may be made to Vitas Hospice, Dayton, or the Honor Flight, Springfield.
