Lucille
Hemmert, 96, of Troy, Ohio, passed away at 1:52 p.m. on Sunday, July 5, 2009, at
the Caldwell House in Troy.
She was born on July 23, 1912, in Pleasant Hill, to the late Charles and Martha
(Bashore) Shimp. Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, Marion F.
Hemmert, on Nov. 9, 1987.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Judy Hemmert of
Troy; daughter, Mary E. Hannahs of Troy; five grandchildren and eight
great-grandchildren; brother, Robert Shimp of Casstown.
In addition to her husband and parents, Lucille was preceded in death by her
daughter, Margaret Thompson; sister, Catherine Scheer; brother, Victor Shimp.
Lucille was a 1931 graduate of Piqua High School. She was a member of the St.
Patrick Catholic Church in Troy. She retired as a secretary and bookkeeper for the former Dr. Rodney M.
Thompson's office in Troy.
There will be a funeral service held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, July 10, 2009, at
Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy with Rev. Fr. James S. Duell officiating. The
visitation will take place at the funeral home from 4 - 8 p.m. on Thursday July
9, 2009. Interment will take place at Miami Memorial Park in Covington.
